About Six Weeks and how we work

Six Weeks covers the administrative side of travelling healthy from the UK: appointments, entitlements, documents, insurance small print and lead times. We do not tell anyone which vaccines they need. That is a clinical decision based on an individual risk assessment.

Who writes this

Daniel Okonjo, travel health information writer. Nine years writing consumer guidance on travel documentation and insurance, four of them for a UK advice charity, with a background in occupational travel administration. Not a clinician, and the site is scoped accordingly: process, paperwork and timing rather than medicine.

How the guides are made

Where we stop

Which vaccines you need, whether you are fit to fly, and whether a particular medicine suits you are all clinical questions. Take them to a GP practice, a pharmacist or a travel clinic. If you are unwell, contact NHS 111 or, in an emergency, 999.

Corrections

Report an error through the contact form. We correct the guide and record at the foot of the page what changed and when.

Funding

This site may be funded in part by Google advertising (for example Google Ads or Google AdSense). Ads are labelled as advertising. We do not accept payment for editorial mentions of any insurer, clinic or pharmacy, and we do not sell sponsored articles. How advertising cookies work, and how to control them, is explained in the privacy notice and cookie policy.
